Drugstore Cowboy

1h 41m Crime, Drama 1989

Gus Van Sant established himself as an outstanding voice in contemporary indie cinema with this electrifying second feature.

Drugstore Cowboy tells the story of a group of addicts who support their habit by knocking off pharmacies around the pacific northwest. Bob (Matt Dillon) and Nadine (Kelly Lynch), the superstitious leaders of the gang, steer them into and out of trouble.

The film is an empathetic portrait of addiction that, while harrowing, is pervaded by cynical humour.
