Changing Views - Virtual Pamphlet Launch

26m Poetry, Visual Art 2020

In late 2019 to early 2020, poetry students from the Seamus Heaney Centre were invited to make new works in response to the Changing Views exhibition at the Ulster Museum.

In place of a pamphlet launch and gallery tour, we invite you to join us for a free virtual tour and poetry reading.

Featuring work by Bebe Ashley, Jess McKinney, Caitlin Phenix, John Reid, Noah Swinney, Grace Tower, and Milena Williamson, with special contributions by Padraig Regan and Vahni Capildeo. It is introduced by Stephen Sexton for the Seamus Heaney Centre, and Curator of Art Anna Liesching, and features music by Duke Special.

This annual Ekphrasis project builds on the long history of interdisciplinary dialogue between writers and artists in Belfast. Through a series of workshops and discussions, students develop new work in response to artworks from the Ulster Museum’s Collection. They have exclusive access to collection files and expertise of the curatorial team at the Ulster Museum, as well as the Seamus Heaney Centre creative writing staff. Their new work is published, and performed at special gallery tours twice a year alongside the artworks themselves.
